Ebola versus Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and other STDs

Are you going to contract Ebola? Not likely…

STDs from hooking up with more than one person at a time? Fast track to a virus that effects apparently 20-30 million Americans.

So, I won a $100 bet this past weekend proving through medical journals evidencing that condoms merely lower (not prevent) your chance at contracting some diseases.. like HPV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia or “the clap”! (I really just wanted to make reference to the clap).

I’m personally pretty terrified of HPV bc of its leading to cancer in women, so I ask my girly doctor ridiculous questions and she provides me the most informative fascinating answers. I am fascinated by the lack of knowledge or at least the lack of care for prevention out there.

The vaccination is also quite controversial but that’s another topic entirely. Here is what everyone needs to know… so stop worrying so much about Ebola and start worrying about what could cause your lady bits to basically be eaten away by this virus:

“If you are sexually active:
HPV can infect areas that are not covered by a condom – so condoms may not give full protection against getting HPV; Be in a mutually monogamous relationship – or have sex only with someone who only has sex with you.

Note, you can find tons of studies surrounding this. Talk to your OBGYN about this in detail during your next visit.
